Shades for Migraine Now Accepting Applications for 2023 Community Leader Program

North Kingstown, R.I. – Shades for Migraine is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the third annual Community Leader Program. This program is a key component to the success of Shades for Migraine by spreading the word at the grassroots level.

What Does a Community Leader Do?

Shades for Migraine (SFM) Community Leaders are volunteers who spread migraine awareness within their communities, equipped with resources provided by SFM. Community Leaders help educate and connect with people, not only to raise awareness about migraine disease, but to introduce them to the experiences of people living with migraine and share resources for those navigating their migraine journeys. From collaborating with local schools and health centers to holding in-person events and participating in challenges, Community Leaders’ innovative ideas and dedication have the power to make a difference.

Community Leaders will be needed from March 2023 – June 2023. Community Leaders can also build a “team” by working with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and beyond to make a bigger impact.

How to Apply

For 2023, we would like to find 34 Community Leaders. Applications are being accepted from February 1, 2023, through February 15, 2023. Please complete and submit this application form by 5:00 p.m. ET on February 15 if you would like to be considered for the position.

Applicants will be notified by February 24, 2023, if they have been selected for the program. Selected individuals will be invited to join the onboarding call where they will learn more about the program, receive links to exclusive Community Leader resources and collateral, and meet fellow leaders. A recording will be shared with those who are unable to join live.

While we would love to accept everyone to this program, please only apply if you are able to commit to the role as we are limited with how many people we can accept.

About Shades for Migraine

Established by the Association of Migraine Disorders in 2017, Shades for Migraine is a global awareness campaign striving to create a viral buzz around migraine disease. This disease affects more than one billion people worldwide. Every year, people living with migraine, as well as their friends, families, and coworkers, post pictures on social media wearing sunglasses on June 21, the longest day of the year, as a symbol of solidarity and support.

Sunglasses are a visual representation of an invisible symptom of migraine called photophobia or extreme sensitivity to light. This program is an opportunity for people to share their connection to migraine disease, in the hopes of spurring more conversation.
